EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — El Paso-area veterans and their families can learn about PACT Act benefits and enjoy food, music and giveaways during a special event hosted by El Paso Veterans Affairs later this month.

The El Paso Veterans Affairs Health Care System and the Waco Regional Office of the Veterans Benefits Administration are co-hosting a Summer VetFest and PACT Act Claims Clinic.

The claims clinic will be held on Saturday, July 27th from 3-6pm in the main parking lot of the local VA, 5001 N. Piedras. VetFest will be held the same day from 4-8pm at the same location.

“The PACT Act expanded VA health care and benefits to include all veterans who were exposed to toxins and other hazards while serving at home or abroad. This includes all veterans who served in the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, Iraq, Afghanistan, or other post-9/11 combat zones. The VA added new presumptive conditions for radiation, Agent Orange, Gulf War toxins, and burn pits,” a press release from the local VA said.

The Claims Clinic is designed for veterans to meet in person with a claims representative, learn more about VA benefits and eligibility, and file a claim under the PACT Act.

VetFest, which takes place at the same time, features food trucks, an information fair, a recruitment fair for veterans organizations, and live music from the Sunset 915 Band and Blackberry Jam Experience.

There will also be a back-to-school giveaway while supplies last. Children must be present to receive back-to-school supplies, the VA said.
