How to get to the Ruins of Unte in ER Shadow of the Erdtree

Elden Ring Shadow of the Earth Tree is a massive DLC with a dense map full of secrets to discover. One area that might pique your curiosity is the Ruins of Unte. These ruined buildings don’t seem to have much to offer at first glance, but you can enter the ruins if you have a large oven pot handy.

And it’s worth it, because you get a new incantation and can finally transform your stone-covered sword. To help you with that, here is How to get to the Ruins of Unte in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.

The Ruins of Unte is a location you can find after venturing into the Castle Watering Hole of Shadow Keep in Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.

To get there, you’ll need to visit the main square of Shadow Keep – where the burning boats and militiamen are – and look for the ladder that leads down. Down here, you’ll enter a room with the “Domain of Dragons” painting and another ladder that will eventually take you to the Ruins of Unte.

The ruins are easy to miss after a quick tour of the area, but you can actually go inside if you have a Strong oven pot at hand and are prepared for a tough fight with a Furnace Golem.

You should see a sleeping Furnace Golem lying outside the main entrance to the Ruins of Unte. Be careful not to attract the attention of the also sleeping Furnace Golem nearby while you deal with this golem.

Climb the small, destroyed building to his left and throw a large melting pot into the golem’s brazier.

The Furnace Golem will now awaken and reveal the entrance to the ruins. You can go right in and loot the place, but it will quickly start firing massive, fiery attacks at you, so we recommend killing it before exploring further.

To do this, you’ll need to hit his knuckles while he’s sitting on Torrent until he eventually staggers. This may take a while, but once he falls over, you can attack the glowing weak spot; that’s the Furnace Visage face attached to him.

You can also enter the Ruins of Unte without waking the Furnace Golem by using Torrent to jump up the ledges on the wall to the northeast of the ruins. If you go in this way, the Furnace Golem will still block your exit, so you will need to quickly travel away from the Ruins of Unte to leave.

In the ruins of Unte you will find a chest containing the spell “Giant Golden Bow”.

And when you first come across an altar for the Stone Sheathed Sword, you can take the weapon here too. If you already have the weapon, you can alternatively transform the Stone Sheathed Sword into the Sword of Darkness or the Sword of Light at this altar.
