STUTTGART – The last eight teams remaining at the 2024 UEFA European Championship will try to secure their ticket to the semi-finals, starting with a top match against the host country.

Germany’s success at the European Championships continues. After leading Group A undefeated, the hosts put in an impressive performance in the round of 16 against Denmark. Kai Havertz and Jamal Musiala scored second-half goals to give the team a 2-0 win and their third victory of the tournament so far. The win puts the team in the quarter-finals for the first time since 2016, when the nation last reached the semi-finals. The three-time European champions made the last four in three consecutive tournaments before being knocked out in the round of 16 three years ago.
Spain seemed to have an easy path to the quarter-finals. They were the only team in the tournament to win all three of their group stage matches and were five points ahead of Italy in Group B. However, when they faced Georgia in the round of 16, La Roja fell behind early on. But the Spaniards turned things around, scoring four unanswered goals and winning comfortably 4-1.
The three-time European champions hope to reach the semi-finals for the fourth time in the last five tournaments.
Germany’s record against Spain is 9-9-8, with the two teams playing out a 1-1 draw at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
