Kevin Costner’s new western, Horizon, was a box office flop. Do you think that means the western genre is a thing of the past?

Will Ferrell is a comedy king, there’s no doubt about it. I love his era of Saturday Night Live and his brilliant collaborations with Cheri Oteri and Molly Shannon. I mean, can you really beat the Spartan Cheerleaders? No. The wonderfully bizarre Dog Show? Mr. Bojangles is an icon. Of course, Elf, Anchorman, Wedding Crashers and Step Brothers come to mind when we think of his films, but there’s one that rarely gets the attention (if any) it deserves. 2005’s Kicking & Screaming, starring Ferrell, Robert Duvall, Kate Walsh and baby Josh Hutcherson, is a hilarious sports comedy that pits Ferrell’s Phil against his father (Duvall) to see who can coach the better kids’ soccer team. Perhaps the best part of the film is when Phil discovers the wonders of coffee… and is subsequently banned from a cafe. And the movie is PG? This movie is funnier than it has any right to be.

It’s been quite a year for Dakota Johnson so far. In the first half of 2024 alone, she’s appeared in superhero flop Madame Web, bigotry drama Daddio, and the previously unbearable Am I OK? But looking beyond that, what’s Johnson’s best film to date? One of her earliest roles is a brief appearance in The Social Network, but that doesn’t count enough to be considered. She then appeared in the Fifty Shades franchise, followed by thriller Bad Times at the El Royale, as well as dramas like The Peanut Butter Falcon and Cha Cha Real Smooth. For my money, it’s actually 2018’s grim Suspiria remake that tops her filmography. But since there are plenty of others to choose from, what do you think is her best film?

Inside Out 2 is now the highest-grossing film of 2024 and Pixar has announced that it will produce more sequels to the existing films. Which Pixar sequel is your favorite? Is it one of the many sequels to Toy Story? Do you think Cars 3 is better than Cars 2? Or is Pixar’s latest film your favorite in the studio’s filmography?

I’m starting to show my age (I don’t care, I’m comfortable with my greying beard), but I have fond memories of The X-Files and would absolutely refuse to miss an episode. There was just something special about watching Mulder and Scully search for the truth that kept me on the edge of my seat week after week; and for me, it’s by far the best science fiction TV show of all time. Do you feel the same? Let’s talk about it, shall we?

Medical dramas are a staple of crime TV, but which is the best? Is it a long-running staple like ER or Grey’s Anatomy? A comedy like Scrubs? A classic like MASH or something modern like Chicago Med? My favorite is ER, what’s yours?

Women are absolutely amazing in the horror genre, but which king do you think deserves the crown? We’ve got the teaser for Bill Skarsgård as Nosferatu, a trailer for Smile 2 with Kyle Gallner in his role, and Longlegs brings Nicolas Cage back to the genre. Who is your favorite Scream King? Personally, Gallner and David Dastmalchian are two of my favorites! Not only are they amazing in every role, but they also seem to have a real passion for all things horror. Which of the two needs more love or who would you like to see more in the horror genre (and based on which performance – we need more recommendations!)?
