Former Alabama player Myles Johnson would be the perfect addition to Texas’ D-Line

Wednesday afternoon three stars Linebacker Myles Johnson has withdrawn his commitment to the Alabama Crimson Tide.

The 2025 prospect joined the Tide in November 2023 and is now reportedly leaning toward the Florida Gators.

Although Johnson is not a five-star athlete coming out of high school, the linebacker could be just the one Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns need to round out their defensive line.

According to 247Sports, Johnson has earned a four-star rating after a productive junior season and an impressive career.

Johnson, who visited the Gators in early June, already weighs 100 kg at a height of 6’11”, but can move his larger frame incredibly quickly, clocking a time of 11 minutes 15 seconds in the 100-meter dash.

Although Texas has not yet offered Johnson a spot with the Horns, Sarkisian may want to reconsider whether he wants to contact the interested party.

Texas already has an impressive roster of linebackers, but they are all nearing the end of their college eligibility and adding an elite 2025 recruit to the roster could be the start of rebuilding the position over the next few years.

According to On3, Johnson, a native of Alabama, currently has an 89.9 percent chance of ending up in Florida, and the experts at 247Sports’ Crystal Ball also predict that he will end up with the Gators.

Sarkisian could really shake up his squad by recruiting Johnson, especially if the Longhorns enter the SEC and visit the Gators in 2024.
