3 teenagers arrested for murder and attempted robbery in Oak Park

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego police said three teenagers were arrested on murder and attempted robbery charges in connection with the March killing of a 25-year-old man in Oak Park.

According to the press release, on March 28 at around 10:54 p.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of 60th and Michael Streets in response to a car crash.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found a car that had crashed into a fence. An unconscious man was sitting in the driver’s seat. When emergency responders got the man out of the car, they found that he had been shot in the upper body.

Paramedics treated the man before he was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead later that evening. SDPD identified the victim as Andres Dominguez, a 25-year-old man from Poway.

As SDPD homicide detectives investigated the scene, they learned that Dominguez may have gotten into an argument with two men nearby, the release states. During the argument, one of the men shot Dominguez, and then he drove his car a short distance before crashing at the intersection.

According to SDPD, the homicide unit has been investigating the case for the past few months and discovered that Dominguez was shot during a botched robbery.

During their investigation, investigators identified three suspects: 18-year-old Brayan Morales, 19-year-old Arlene Zaragoza and a 16-year-old boy.

On Tuesday, July 2, detectives arrested Morales around 5 p.m. in the 3100 block of Camino Del Rio North. About two hours later, police arrested Zaragoza in the 4000 block of Home Ave. The 16-year-old was already in custody at the San Diego County Juvenile Detention Center on other charges, police said.

All three are now charged with murder and attempted robbery. Morales was booked into the San Diego County Central Jail, while Zaragoza was booked into the Las Colinas Jail.

According to SDPD, both arrests took place “without incident.”
