As The Garfield Movie prepares to leave theaters, audiences will learn when the lasagna-loving house cat will be released digitally and via streaming.
Inspired by Jim Davis’ Garfield Comics, Sony Pictures’ The Garfield Movie showed Garfield, voiced by Chris Pratt, being reunited with his father, the street cat Vic, before being whisked off on an adventure with him.

When will the Garfield movie be released digitally in 2024?
When to Stream confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that The Garfield Movie will be available for digital purchase on Tuesday, July 9th.
This means that there are 46 days between the animated film’s theatrical premiere on May 24th and its digital homecoming.
To date, the family-friendly Sony film has grossed $240 million at the box office worldwide.
When will the Garfield movie be streamed in 2024?
As the Hollywood Reporter reported in 2021, The Garfield Movie was included in Sony’s streaming rights deal with Netflix and Disney.
The deal gave Netflix exclusive “pay-1 window” streaming rights for 18 months, after which Disney will receive “pay-2 window” streaming rights to stream the film on Disney+ and Hulu and broadcast it on its television networks.
The question now is when The Garfield Movie will begin its 18-month run on Netflix, and previous film releases from Sony could be the answer.
