Alice Evans ‘cannot financially support’ her children with Ioan Gruffudd: Documents

Alice Evans is asking the Los Angeles Superior Court to order her ex-husband Ioan Gruffudd to pay her child support and spousal support because she is allegedly on the verge of bankruptcy.

“While I struggle to put food on the table for our children, Ioan is jet-setting around the world,” the 55-year-old British-American actress claims in court documents filed Monday and obtained by Page Six.

As proof of his lavish lifestyle, Evans then cites posts on her ex’s Instagram profile showing that he had been to the UK, Rome, Spain and Seattle.

In the documents, she adds: “According to media reports, Ioan bought an expensive engagement ring for his fiancée and they recently purchased new Rolex watches.”

Evans further claims that she has “very little money each month” and points out that she only earns about $300 a month from royalties for her acting projects.

“I have used up all of my personal savings to pay my previous attorneys in this case and to cover my expenses,” says the “102 Dalmatians” actress.

“I have some personal belongings, such as vintage designer items, in storage that I could potentially sell, but there is a risk that they will be auctioned off because I cannot pay the monthly storage fee.”

Evans also claims that she is “behind on rent and utilities.”

Page Six also obtained a copy of her statement, which shows a $3,000 “past due” utility bill, a $1,000 storage bill last paid in March 2024, and an outstanding $1,100 credit card debt.

Evans also writes in this document: “Due to my age and the fact that I have not done much acting work recently, it is difficult to find roles. My income for 2024 will consist of cameo appearances and royalties.”

In her child support application, the “Reunion” actress, who has daughters Ella (14) and Elsie (10) with 50-year-old Gruffudd, claims that “friends started bringing groceries and food” so she and the children could eat.

Evans adds that she plans to apply for government assistance, adding, “I will apply for food stamps and welfare.”

The mother of two children repeatedly stressed that she is entitled to financial support from her ex because she has full custody of the two girls.

In February 2022, she filed for sole custody, but Gruffudd accused her of trying to portray him as the villain to their daughters and the public.

The “Titanic” actor had previously claimed in a court complaint: “Alice threatened to tell people that I had abused her and our daughters.

“(She) threatened to call the police if I did not comply with her demands… threatened to tell people I was a drug addict and put me in jail… threatened to write a fake diary about an abuse victim and publish the diary; and… threatened to destroy my mother.”

In June 2023, the ex-partner’s eldest daughter obtained a restraining order against her father, accusing his fiancée of “slamming a door in her face.”

Evans’ lawyers argue in the new documents that because of Gruffudd’s public claims about her, she “cannot be taken seriously for roles that require her to travel extensively – as is the case with many acting roles.”

“I have made efforts to get back into the industry,” the actress emphasizes.

“For example, I’m currently booking paid fan conventions for various roles I’ve played in the past. I’m not making much at the moment, but I’m confident that with some hard work and the right opportunity, I can start supporting the kids financially.”

According to court documents, Gruffudd agreed to pay Evans $3,000 per month in child support and $7,000 per month in spousal support until the trial begins (from December 2023 to April 30, 2024).

However, the trial was reportedly postponed because one of the lawyers fell ill and Evans stopped receiving payments from her ex for the months of May and June.

“I can’t wait months for a trial to get child support and spousal support,” she argues.

Evans also claims that her prenuptial agreement with Gruffudd is unfair because it allegedly stipulates that she will receive less money from her ex after the divorce than if they did not have children together.

“This provision penalizes me for having children and, in my opinion, violates California state policy that requires both parents to contribute to the financial support of the children, especially in this case where I now have full custody of the children,” she says.

“Ioan is able to pay spousal support due to his higher income and continued lavish lifestyle,” Evans’ lawyers claim, pointing out that Gruffudd recently had a role in “Bad Boys: Ride or Die.”

“For these reasons, Alice is demanding the guideline amount for child and spousal support,” the lawyers conclude.

Page Six reached out to Gruffudd’s attorney for comment but did not immediately receive a response.
