Honestly, the best thing about the Fourth of July is that it’s another excuse to eat hot dogs and drink beer. That and the days off. Universal is trying to celebrate by giving us a quadruple dose of Minions. Thank you for your service, gentleminions. A24 is setting off the fireworks that are Maxine Fucking Minx in what is probably her last appearance on the big screen. Plus, you can head back to the island of Lost and watch some documentaries. Okay, here’s everything you can see on TV and in the movies. —Savannah Salazar

We got the long-awaited origin story of Gru (Steve Carrell) two summers ago, and now it’s time to return to the present in Despicable Me 4. Gru, now a reformed villain, and his wife Lucy (Kristen Wiig) welcome Gru Jr. into the family when they are visited by a new villain duo (voices: Will Ferrell and Sofia Vergara). A fun, silly laugh ensues. —SS

The climax of Ti West’s trilogy, MaXXXine follows Mia Goth’s Maxine, the last girl from Xas she tackles Hollywood. After auditioning for a role in Elizabeth Bender’s (Elizabeth Debicki) horror sequel The PuritanMaxine is haunted by her past in many ways. It’s a snappy homage to 80s horror, a fun, gritty little film. —SS

Not to be surpassed by the Despicable Mes and from the inside to the outsideStudio Ponoc is back in the world of animation with this new hand-drawn gem directed by Studio Ghibli veteran Yoshiyuki Momose about imaginary friends who face an inevitable fate: that the children who believe in them may one day no longer believe in them. —Eric Vilas-Boas
