Several LA candidates still want to be in the final squad

In less than two weeks, the Los Angeles Rams’ training camp begins. While it will be great to see the team back and prepare for the upcoming season, for some players it is a matter of life and death.

While the established players have their spots secured, the fate of others, especially those still on the fence, is uncertain. The upcoming training camp and preseason will be a time of excitement and anticipation as these players look to prove their worth.

It won’t be easy, and there are a lot of players vying for a spot, but here are six Rams who are on the reserve list heading into training camp. According to Rams Wire’s Cameron DaSilva, the six players on the sidelines are offensive tackle AJ Arcuri, offensive lineman Logan Bruss, running back Zach Evans, linebacker Ochaun Mathis, cornerback Derion Kendricks and tight end Hunter Long.

Those six will likely have to fight to the end to earn a spot on the team. Many of those names are more interesting than others, starting with Zach Evans. The Rams have been busy with the running back room this offseason, drafting Blake Corum in the third round of the draft and signing Boston Scott as a free agent. The room filled up quickly, and with others like Ronny Rivers vying for a spot, it will take a lot from Evans just to be the fifth wheel on the wagon. Evans has been limited on offense, even with all the injuries to running backs they’ve suffered in 2023.

The other name on the list is Kendricks. Kendricks has had a rough time at the pro level, being benched three times, including twice in 2023. With plenty of options in training camp, if he doesn’t stand out, it could be the last we hear from Kendricks.

The last player of interest is former third-round draft pick and offensive guard Logan Bruss. Bruss has had some issues since he tore his ACL and posterior cruciate ligaments before the start of his rookie season and had trouble staying on the field. Bruss was released by the Rams and re-signed to the practice squad from August 20-23. This could be his last chance with the team.
