Summer fun at the water park despite price increases and modernizations

GREAT FALLS — With summer temperatures approaching, many people seek out Electric City Water Park to cool off. However, recent visits have revealed some changes that have drawn mixed reactions from visitors.

Price increases and new fees

Admission prices have increased significantly this season. Youth tickets are now $7 and adult tickets are $10. Children under three are still admitted free. In addition, a credit card processing fee has been introduced, prompting some visitors to bring cash for admission and to purchase snacks.

Kimberly Schur, the water sports director at Great Falls Water Park, said, “Prices have gone up for all pools, like every year. Everything is getting more expensive.”

Despite the price increase, most customers seem to take it in their stride.

Mary and Kiara Schaffner, regular visitors to the park, expressed their opinion: “It’s probably pretty bad because some people might care more now.”

Plant closures and future plans

In addition to the price changes, visitors have noticed that certain attractions such as the FlowRider and baby pool have been closed for extended periods of time. However, there are plans to fix these issues.

Schur gave some insight: “The baby pool is being converted to a wading pool. Construction will begin in a few months and it should be open next season. The FlowRider needs to be recoated. We are bringing in experts to teach our team at the City of Great Falls how to recoat it efficiently and effectively so it doesn’t have to remain closed for years.”

Personnel and security measures

On a positive note, the water park has managed to avoid the staff shortages that existed in previous seasons and currently has 40 lifeguards on duty, all of whom are Red Cross certified.

“We certify them after they are hired. If they don’t pass the test, we move them to another position,” Schur explains.

Water levels and customer experiences

Some visitors have expressed concern that the water level appears to be lower than in years past. Schur clarified: “No, it’s the same as it’s always been. It seems a little low, but I think I’ve just gotten taller since last year. But it’s three feet high.”

Despite these minor issues, the park remains a popular destination, especially during the recent heatwave.

Mary and Kiara Schaffner highlighted one of their favorite features: “Pretty much the lazy river. Sometimes it’s a little dangerous because you get caught in people’s legs and stuff, but it’s fun. When there are a lot of people, it can get really crowded.”

As the public continues to flock to the water park to escape the heat, these adjustments and improvements are intended to improve the overall experience for everyone.
